Previewish – UFC 100 – Matt Grice vs. Shannon Gugerty

July 2, 2009

When there are UFC events, I’m going to do short previews for every single fight on the card individually. It’ll be a great chance to try and get to know the lesser known guys that fill out the spaces in the PPV shows that are created after quick stoppages. Sometimes, they make the PPV worth the buy.

Matt “The Real One” Grice (9-2) vs. Shannon Gugerty (11-3)

Lightweights

Matt Grice entered the UFC 2 years ago as an undefeated fighter. He dropped his first fight, won his second and then took a year off to become a policemanofficer. He returned to the octagon at Fight Night: Lauzon vs. Stephens only to lose again. Needless to say if the former collegiate wrestler doesn’t get a win here he might have to fall back on his policin’ career.

Shannon Gugerty is 1-1 in the UFC.  He won his debut last year and followed that up with a loss to Spencer Fisher. Gugerty has only gone the distance once in his career. He’s choked out and been choked out in the UFC. Apparently, Gugerty loves Guiness as his website picture speech bubble suggests. I think we can all agree with him.
