Another Big Weekend
Yes, yet another big weekend in the world of MMA. It’s a good time to be alive. There’s UFC, Strikeforce and the final Bellator show of the season.
This weekend is the final tuneup before UFC 100. TUF 9 comes to a close tomorrow night with a card headlined by Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida. I did a preview that will be showing up on TBL around 5:30. (Here it is in all its glory.) I would have run earlier, but I neglected to incorporate Joe Buck and/or Artie Lange. Joe Rogan doesn’t work “blue” enough for TBL’s taste.
Tonight Strikeforce has a full slate of fights on Showtime. My girlfriend convinced me to get Showtime so we could watch The Tudors and I’m so glad we got it. Dexter is excellent and Weeds is still pretty good. The true highlight though, has been the Strikeforce events. (The movies suck for the most part.) It’s nice to have other fight leagues on the cable dial. Especially now that Time Warner has taken away HDNet and replaced it with horrible channels that play mostly shows about dancing animals.
The card doesn’t hit TV until 11pm Eastern, so make sure to hit up happy hour – but don’t get too blotto. You want to be awake. It should be an intense card. Those are your headliners, Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and Joe Villasenor. (Via MMAjunkie) Anytime someone puts a hand on their opponents throat at the weigh-ins, tensions are running high.
Connor Heun is is also fighting tonight. He was on an episode of Bully Beatdown this year. I can’t tell if that’s why I know his name. He also fought on an EliteXC card last year. And there’s a ladies bout between Shayna Baszler and Sarah Kaufman. Baszler is the chick that Cris Cyborg celebrated early against.
I’ll be at TBL again this weekend, so feel free to stop by.
